We are currently seeking a dedicated Safety Advisor to lead and enhance our workplace health and safety efforts. In this role, you will work closely with our Safety Manager to oversee and implement safety programs, monitor safety compliance and ensure safety standards are adhered to across all businesses. This role will also handle key safety administrative duties, such as maintaining and updating safety documentation, managing incident and inspection records, and ensuring timely submission of safety reports to all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, update, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and documentation in line with Canadian regulations (e.g., CSA, provincial OHS regulations, WHMIS).
Maintain accurate records, including safety data sheets (SDS), training logs, incident reports, and compliance documentation using safety management software.
Prepare and submit regulatory reports to bodies such as WorkSafe NB, or other provincial authorities as required.
Coordinate HSE training programs, including scheduling, and tracking employee participation in safety certifications. • Support safety committee meetings, prepare agendas, and document minutes.
Monitor and track HSE metrics, generating reports for management review.
Conduct field-based risk assessments and job hazard analyses (JHAs) at work sites to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Perform regular site inspections and safety audits to ensure compliance with OHS standards and company policies.
Provide on-site safety guidance during high-risk activities, ensuring proper use of PPE and adherence to safe work practices.
Assist in incident investigations, including root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings to field crews and contractors.
Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging with employees and management across all levels.
Stay current on Canadian HSE legislation, industry standards, and best practices.
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience in a safety role or a related field.
Bachelor's degree or certificate in Health and Safety or related discipline.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and safety management software (e.g., Sitedocs, ISN, or equivalent).
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to balance office-based administrative tasks with field-based safety duties.
Valid NB driver’s license.
Physically capable of conducting field inspections in various environments (e.g., construction sites, industrial facilities, climbing ladders, working in heights and confined spaces).
Valid NB Fall Pro, Confined Space and WHMIS required.
Strong analytical skills.
Attention to detail and sense of urgency.
