Estimator - Fabrication

Purpose:
We are seeking an organized, detail-driven Estimator to join our Fabrication team. This role is focused on estimating costs for potential jobs related to steel fabrication and industrial piping work.
Key Responsibilities:
Development of estimates (quotations) and estimated timelines (lead times) of potential Steel Fabrication and Industrial Piping work.
Review and understand scope of work to be performed and collaborate with internal team to develop projects plans to ensure successful project implementation.
Perform material take-offs using technical drawings and information provided by the client to capture material volumes/quantities to be included in client quotations (estimates).
Work with SCEI’s internal purchasing department and/or external material providers to obtain material pricing.
Estimation (calculation) of the Fabrication Process labour hours and durations using SCEI developed or industry standards and templates.
Create project plan to help determine lead times and/or schedules to present to the client.
Review and understand Fabrication Specifications, Industry Codes and their effect on Fabrication estimate.
Communicate with the client to fully understand their requirements and work with the client to the satisfaction of both the client and SCEI.
Create formal detailed proposals (quotations) to present to clients.
Provide support in rectifying issues which may impact costs and schedule in a proactive manner.

Qualifications:
2 years of experience in the industrial construction, fabrication, or manufacturing environment
Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
Strong in MS Excel
Basic understanding of steel sizes and properties
Basic math skills and understanding of profit margins and percentages
Engineering degree, engineering technology certificate, or equivalent trade experience.
