We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Design Engineer to join our team in a full-time, permanent position. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical components and systems for drilling equipment and tooling while supporting product development from concept through production.
Key responsibilities:
Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for drilling equipment and tooling.
Design of Hydraulic Systems for Drilling Equipment
Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and related technical documentation.
Translate concepts, calculations, and engineering specifications into practical, manufacturable designs.
Perform engineering calculations and analyses to validate design performance and functionality.
Collaborate with on-site manufacturing and production teams to optimize designs for manufacturability, assembly, and cost-effectiveness.
Participate in design reviews and provide technical expertise and recommendations.
Investigate and resolve design-related issues while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Support prototype development, testing, validation, and implementation of new and existing products.
Liaise with suppliers, customers, and cross-functional teams on technical design requirements, as required.
Develop and maintain accurate engineering documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs), drawings, revision control and Engineering Change Notices (ECN).
Create product bulletins, manuals, other technical documentation as needed.
Edit and assist with maintaining Product Data Management System.
Support root cause analysis and corrective actions related to product performance and quality.
Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications.
Mentor members of the engineering and technical team.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Technology.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation/Professional Technologist or ability to obtain is an asset
8+ years of engineering experience
3+ years in a leadership or senior Engineering/Technical role.
