Payroll coordinator
Location: Miramichi, NB
Reports To: Assistant CFO

We are seeking an experienced payroll professional to join our team at our head office in Miramichi, New Brunswick. In this role, the Payroll Coordinator will be responsible for payroll administration and compliance across multiple business units.
Key Responsibilities
Process and audit payroll for multiple business units
Schedule and administer multiple payroll cycles in accordance with established procedures.
Ensure accurate and timely employee payments in compliance with employment standards, offer terms, and collective agreements across various jurisdictions.
Review and reconcile compensation and benefit programs.
Ensure timely remittances for unionized employees, WCB/WHSCC, government agencies, the Receiver General for Canada, and monthly trust funds to avoid penalties.
Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts.
Process compensation and benefit payments in a timely and accurate manner
Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Prepare and support ad hoc payroll reporting requests.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including those of the CRA, Service Canada, and Family Court Services
Maintain accurate records and ensure proper document retention in accordance with statutory requirements.
Provide support to the accounts payable department on a fractional basis.
Adhere to the Corporate Code of Ethics
Continuously identify and implement improvements to payroll processes and documentation.
Qualifications
3+ years of payroll processing and compliance experience in a fast-paced environment.
Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience.
Strong computer skills with proficiency in payroll systems and MS Office applications.
High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong numerical aptitude.
Effective communication skills and a cooperative, team-oriented approach.
Assets
Experience working in a unionized environment.
Knowledge of collective agreements.
Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation or equivalent.
